Program Profile

This program provides a platform for Chinese language learners from around the world to showcase their Chinese language skills, share their learning experience, examine their learning outcome, and build a bridge to promote their friendship through the "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students, Foreign Secondary School Students and Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students, as well as "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe. Since its inception in 2002, it has attracted more than 1.7 million young people from more than 160 countries to participate in the overseas preliminaries, and more than 7,000 outstanding contestants have been invited to China to participate in the finals. The competition has become a popular international event among Chinese language learners worldwide, and is known as the Olympic Games for Chinese Proficiency competition.

"Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students, Foreign Secondary School Students, and Chinese Show for Foreign Primary School Students, are held annually, and each of the three competition covers the overseas preliminary rounds and the global finals. Based on the theme of the event, we have built a stage for young students learning Chinese around the world to showcase their Chinese language skills, exchange learning experiences and examine their learning outcome.

"Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe is held once a year. It includes three themes: the dubbing show, storytelling contest, Chinese calligraphy and painting challenge. We would expand different themes according to the needs of Chinese language learners.

How to join the competitions

We welcome Chinese language fans to participate in the competitions. In late April to May, the competitions for contestants from Ottawa Division will be held. Ottawa Division can recommend one winning contestant to Beijing to participate in the global Finals planned to be held in August or September. Each contestant under 18 years old can be authorized to accompany one parent as guardian to China. In the final stage, the final champion, the continental champion and the excellence award will be selected through the assessment of the contestants' Chinese proficiency and Chinese talent show. All the winners will have the opportunity to participate in the "Chinese Bridge" summer camp.
